Third Step Prayer as seen from a Neurobiological Perspective

Wondering what the Autonomic and Para Sympathetic Nervous Systems are? First check out the page on the Autonomic Nervous System

GodMnemonic to remind person to head for the Para Sympathetic Nervous System (PSNS)
I offer myself to TheeFaking it until the person praying manages to make into the PSNS where humility reigns.
To do with me as thou want. Now that’s getting real humble. Offering to get out of ego (active Sympathetic Nervous System ) and listen to PSNS,
God, I offer myself to Thee – To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. . Trying to get even more humble.
Relieve me of the bondage of self,Get me out of the self-centered ego state (active Sympathetic Nervous System) please.
that I may better do Thy willAsking to take actions coming out of intuition ( a characteristic of an active PSNS) when the whole brain is running smothly.
Take away my difficultiesPeople only see difficulties when they are unwilling to accept and enjoy their here and now. When a person has an active PSNS , they can accept and enjoy everything .
So once they get their PSNS activated , things that were offending then, their so called difficulties , will be accepted and enjoyed.
Voila, their so called “difficulties” will have disappeared and been TAKEN AWAY.
that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of LifeCaring about the well-being of others ( a characteristic of the PSNS) by showing them that getting into the PSNS by believing the GOD idea, really works and is a much more enjoyable approach to life than staying in the SNS and experiencing fear, anger, fighting and/or fleeing.

Are these ideas at all useful?

While these suggestions may be useful in understanding what might be happening if you say the Serenity Prayer , they are absolutely useless in activating the Para Sympathetic Nervous System and getting more peace, calm connectedness in your life.
To get this to happen

YOU MUST SAY THE PRAYER (or something similar) ITSELF.

But these ideas may be useful to agnostics and atheists who don’t like using the G__ word or refuse to believe in the existence of a Higher Power. They might be willing to accept the word usage as they get to understand that the point of the prayer is to generate feelings of humility, gratitude etc. .
So they could substitute words of their choice in the prayer to have the same outcome of experiencing peace, calm acceptance and connectedness.

If so check out a similar discussion on the AA Third Step Prayer.
Or maybe try looking for expressions of humility, gratitude in other religious prayers your self, e.g. The Lords Prayer.
Have you noticed that the Muslims and Buddhists do lots of prostrations which seems to be a humbling action?
